"Hi, Lin. The rate indications have arrived. Thanks so much! The US team will be all set for their meeting Monday morning."
"Noted. Just mail me the whole package and I will check from home."
"We have some basic info available. Will you be able to come back with some rate indications during the weekend?"
"Okay, I'm listening."
Friday 5 PM - Houston calls
"Lin, we urgently need a rate indication for a major energy project from Korea to the US."
"Sure, just email me and I'll get back to you."
2 months later
"Stephane, we have some inquiries from Iskenderun to Casablanca. Do you have any reliable contacts?"
During the visit
"Our office can handle this kind of survey without anyone travelling from Scotland to Belgium. Let's do this, handle all the surveys anyway and save some money for our principals along the way."
"Consider it done."
"Hey Stephane, we have a colleague from our Scotland office coming over for some surveys. Can you arrange for transport and join him to the terminal?"
"That's great, Jelle. Other shipments will follow."
2 months later
"Hi, this is Jelle. Your transport has been booked for next week Wednesday night. The highway will be blocked for normal traffic for 2 hours to let our truck bring the reactor to the pontoon. Our team will join the operation at midnight."
"Jill here. We'll handle the whole package, no problem. I will prepare the file, but... I have to give birth to my baby next week. ;-) So my colleague Tanja will take over from me."
"Wow, sure. Just mail me the packing list and our port captain will give it a check.
Thursday, 4.30 pm - A call from Germany
"Good afternoon, Jill. We want to ship a reactor. 343 tons, 34m length and 5.8m diameter. Could you handle the pre-carriage to the terminal?"
"Wow, thanks. Enjoy the weekend!"
"Stijn again. Problem solved, cargo discharged."
"Stijn here. I’m already on my way to the terminal. Apparently there's some misunderstanding with the dockers and the driver."
"Give me 10 minutes."
Friday 4 pm - Italy calling
"Afternoon Stijn, we have some problems with a truck at the terminal. Could you please check what's going on? This is an urgent delivery."
"Hey, Jan, you can proceed like you suggested in your latest email. So go ahead and book the cargo with the shipping line you suggested."
"Great, I'll wait for your message."
"Jan again. We checked with our lawyer. I'll mail you the procedure on how to clear this cargo so you can ship with another line."
"I'll need to discuss this here first, but no worries. I'll get back to you later today."
Wednesday morning - UK on the line
"Jan, we have some cargo arrested with competition. Could you find out how to clear this matter and find an alternative to ship out?"
"You rock. Thanks, Nancy"
2 weeks later
"Hey, consignment is booked and further shipments are pending."
"Sure. Just fill me in on the details. This is piece of cake for us. ;-)"
"Can you find us a suitable vessel or arrange chartered tonnage?"
"Wonderful, let's hear it."
Hong Kong - Tuesday afternoon
"Nancy, my dear, we have a giant inquiry from Conti to Korea for about 40 kT."
